Let's face it, we don't always feel shiny. At least, I don't. I work in an industry where it is almost impossible to feel as shiny as the next person. It takes a lot of effort to remember that being more shiny than someone else should never be a goal...
So I thought I would compile 5 things I try to do to be my own kind of shiny!
5 Ways to Be Your Own Kind of Shiny
1- See the Actual Sun
I declare myself to be a "Lover of Sunshine" because for heaven's sake I know how much I need to walk outside and see that sun. Being outdoors has TONS of health benefits. Most noticeable to me is how it impacts my mental health. I don't always spend an enormous amount of time outdoors, but I try to see that dang sun everyday. It reminds me how small we are, how few things really matter, and honestly-briefly close your eyes, face the sun, feel its warmth and try NOT to feel shiny. I dare you.

2- Talk to Someone Who Makes You Feel Shiny
This is an actual photo of someone telling me I'm shiny. I announced in a training once that it's ok to be a plain blue folder, because that's just how some of us are. This happened after I had to pull my plain blue folders out following a presentation of a fabulous lady who literally used shiny gold folders! In the mail a few days later I received SHINY BLUE FOLDERS with this note... I mean, can you even believe? Cue ALL the tears. That interaction is literally what got me thinking about how even when we don't feel as shiny as someone else, that's not the point! We're all a different type of shiny.
3- Start Your Day With Something that Makes You Smile
4- Have at Least 1 Thing in Your Routine That Demonstrates Self- Care
I mean, this is why I use Posh! I actually spoil myself 2x/day In the morning, I use a Micellar Tonic for quick easy face care and at night, I use a fabulous body butter to care for my skin and remind myself that self-care isn't selfish. We have to take a moment for ourselves during the day that fills our bucket so we have more to give the others in our life! Some other suggestions might include: A bath, favorite pair of earrings, 5 minutes of silence, going to bed at a reasonable time, reading daily, or maybe going for a walk! I actually try to rotate those things into my self-care routine as well! You are shiny- you deserve some self-care. If you're a mama like me, remember that little people are watching how YOU treat YOU. Do right by yourself and by them.
5- Be the Person for Someone Else
One of the things that makes my shiny folder friend so shiny is she does that for others. Smile, say something nice, give someone grace, call someone who needs to hear it. TELL THEM THEY ARE SHINY. No, you don't have to use those words silly. Just be that person for someone else.
We all need to hear it sometimes! I LOVE my shiny folders and even ended up buying this bracelet that I like to wear on days it is hardest to remember.
So, always remember you're shiny as you are. I told you so.
